Let's Get Started

Jonny was walking towards the Pallet Town laboratory, Andrew was walking next to him his headphones over his ears with music blaring from them. Chris and Simon were messing around, keeping each other entertained. Simon with giving Chris a piggyback ride, the two of them running around and just being silly, those two seemed to have been made for each other.

When Jonny and Andrew reached the door of the laboratory, only for Andrew to be pushed through by Simon and Chris. the three of them stumbled and fell to the floor, Jonny walked over to stand next to the bundle. "Really? This is somewhat important, please at least try and behave."

Andrew grumbled, pushing his brothers off of him and getting to his feet, checking to make sure his music player hadn't been broken. "Don't have a go at me, I didn't do anything!"

"Easy brother, we'll behave ourselves." Simon chimed in before sharing a small giggle with Chris.

"Hello there, what a lovely group of lads we have here," a teenage assistant said with a small giggle while her cheeks flushed with read. "You guys know how to make an entrance. I don't think we've ever had a pileup of visitors before, it reminds me of a sports game I watched while visiting Nimbasa, it seemed to happen a lot in there, but not in a lab," she giggled. "What can I help you fellows with?"

Jonny smiled at the young assistant, she seemed nice enough. "We've come here to get starter items and some Pokemon. We only require one starter kit, we don't mind sharing, one badge case and one ribbon case... I would like any Charmander you have available, my brother here," He waved his hand towards Andrew. "Would like a Squirtle, hopefully one which is the opposite gender of the Charmander an-" Jonny was cut off as Chris jumped onto his back.

"I was wondering if you had any Psychic type Pokemon?"

"And maybe an Ice type," Simon added. "If not that's alright."

"That's a handful," the assistant said, "but I think I can handle it. Just give me a moment~" She seemed peppy enough, even with the barrage of requests. She turned on her heals and made her way to a back door, quickly disappearing to the natural reserve-like area that they keep all of the research and starter Pokemon. After several silent minutes, she flung herself back through the door with cool drips of sweat on her face and a lack of breath. "Whew," she said, taking a cloth off the top of a filing cabinet and wiping her brow. She carried three Pokeballs in her other arm, nestlings them against her body. She walked to a table situated against the wall nearest the siblings and allowed the three spheres to spill onto it. Each had a sticker on it to display what laid inside: a water drop, flame, and a perceptive purple eye.

"Those contain Squirtle, Charmander, and Abra respectively," the assistant began, "unfortunately, we don't have any ice types. I will, however, add an Ultra Ball to your starter kit so that the you guys could catch one on your own, if that's all right with you," she hummed happily, seemingly pleased with herself for being able to meet their request. "I'll go grab your kit while three of you can get acquainted with your new starters!"

The four brothers waited for their Pokemon. Simon was happy to have an Ultra Ball instead a Pokemon, especially since not all Ice Types in Kanto were pretty and perfect and what he wanted. "That's alright, I would probably be happier catching my own." He smiled at the assistant, she was really rather nice.

When the assistant left to get the items, Jonny, Andrew and Chris each picked up their Pokeball's, releasing the Pokemon inside. Simon was standing with Chris, eager to learn what his little brother had gotten.

Charmander was released in quite a show of flickering flames. He had a wide grin on his face, and bowed to Jonathan with an exaggerated flourish. The fire on his tail blazed brightly, showing that the Pokemon was healthy, and he seemed to like to put on a show.

Squirtle was more reserved in her greeting, and once released, gave a happy wave and wagged her tail at Andrew. She held out a polite hand toward the trainer, waiting for him to shake it. She seemed quite polite, and less showy than her Charmander companion.

Abra was sent out as well, though he remained hovering above the ground at eye level with Christopher. He was bobbing up and down in the air. With closed eyes, it was hard to tell if he was sleeping or awake, but he had an air of mystery, as if he reveled in the fact that it was hard to tell. He made no motion of greeting, and yet it somehow felt as if he had said his hellos.

Seconds after the Pokemon made their greetings, the assistant replied with a starting bundle in her arms. She smiled toward the brothers and Pokemon before setting the various items on the same table from before. "There you go, everything's in there, even the Ultra Ball. Were any of you planning to nickname your Pokemon?"

Jonny smiled down at the little Charmander, he bent down on one knee to get a closer look, smiling when the Charmander bowed, he definitely liked this one. "Of course he'll have a nickname," He said, picking up the fire lizard as he stood up, his smile widening when the Charmander tried to clamber onto his shoulder. "I think I'll call him Monroe."

Andrew bent down to greet the Squirtle, Andrew was glad that she was a female, it meant that breeding her with Jonny's Charmander would bring out Squirtle eggs, he would rather get water eggs than fire eggs. Andrew shook the Squirtle's hand, he knew that many Pokemon preferred to breed through love, and Andrew was more than willing to let his Pokemon do that, hopefully the two would be compatible in personality. If not there were other chances. When the assistant asked about nicknames, Andrew tilted his head as he thought.

Jonny watched his brother as he thought about a nickname, Andrew wasn't the most creative so he was sure he already knew what name the Squirtle would get. "Bubbles?" Andrew nodded at the name and Jonny turned to the assistant. "The Squirtle will be nicknamed Bubbles." Andrew smiled at the Squirtle and gently patted her head. He would take great care of her.

Simon and Chris both stared at the Abra, it continued to float there, somewhat unawares. The two brothers silently plotted against the Abra. Quick as a flash they both tried to jump the Psychic type, but of course the Abra just teleported away, reappearing behind them. Chris smiled, "I like him, I think I'll call him Shaolin. Cause he looks like a monk!" Chris walked over to the Abra, gently petting him, silently delighted when he didn't teleport away.

Simon felt a little left out, but at least it was easier for him to choose his starter Pokemon. He picked up the items and looked through them before putting them away, making sure to give the badge case to Jonny and keeping the Ribbon case for himself.

"Those are lovely names," the teen replied giddily, "and the Professor'll be happy to hear about a group of traveling brothers. He always loves sending groups off more than individuals, since he knows you'll be helping one another. The Pokemon and items are all yours, take good care of them, and happy travels!"
